PSG have just launched major bid to sign ‘excellent’ midfielder who Mikel Arteta wants at Arsenal
Arsenal may face stern competition for the signing of a player who Mikel Arteta reportedly views as the ‘perfect’ midfielder for his system.
The Gunners have ramped up their activity in the transfer market of late and appear to be closing in on their first summer signing.
Riccardo Calafiori is edging closer towards a switch to Arsenal, with Mikel Arteta’s men aiming to agree a deal with Bologna for the Italian defender.
But it’s no secret that Arteta is keen to bring in a fresh face or two in the middle of the park this summer.
One option that remains firmly on Arsenal’s radar is Benfica’s Joao Neves, who is attracting plenty of interest from a host of top sides.
Fabrizio Romano claims that Arteta views Neves as the ‘perfect’ midfield signing but Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly set to rival the Gunners for the youngster’s signature.

Benfica want £105m for Neves
Neves enjoyed a real breakthrough campaign at Benfica last time out as he racked up 55 appearances in all competitions. The 19-year-old had a hand in five goals and has already earned nine caps for Portugal.
Lauded as an ‘’ talent, Neves was also named in Portugal’s squad for Euro 2024 this summer.
Neves looks destined for a bright future in the game but it remains to be seen whether or not Arsenal are willing to pay such a huge fee to land the youngster.
It’s been claimed that Benfica want at least £105 million if they are to offload Neves this summer and it’s difficult to see Arsenal parting with such a fee.
