After the weekend’s action covering matchday two in the Premier League season, there were some fantastic performances, worthy of a pl🦹ace in the TBR Premier League Team of the Week.

Formation: 4-4-2

Goalkeeper

Kasper Schmeichel – Leicester City

Chelsea’s hard fought win over Leicester City contained the best two goal keeping performances of the weekend. Courtois made one particularly good save from Dave Nugent in the second half and was generally the personification of calmꦅness at the back. However, with the quality that Chelsea possess going forward, and the fact that of ten strikes on target only two found the net is testament to Leicester’s talented young goalkeeper.

Right Back

Branislav Ivanovic – Chelsea

One of the men peppering Schmeichel’s goal on Saturday was Serbian man mountain Ivanovic. He bombed forwar♓d to great effect all afternoon and was solid at the back. He assisted Costa for the breakthrough goal and after his strike against Burnley last week is proving an extremely effective offensive option.

Centre Back

Eric Dier – Tottenham Hotspur

Although Dier actually started at right back against QPR💃 on Sunday, it is at centre back that he’s been chosen for the team of the week. He showed his versatility in shifting to full back and in scoring in consecutᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚive games became the first defender to score in his first two Premier League games. Looks set to be one of the purchases of the season.

Centre Back

Curtis Davies – Hull City

Davies has matured greatly as a defender since his move to the Tigers’ and he was immense again during the one draw with Stoke City. After the sending off of central defensive partner Chester, it could have ꩲproved a tricky afternoon for Hull defensively. Unlucky to concede a late and somewhat fortuitous equaliser, it will not be long before Davies graces a top six club.

Left Back

Andrew Robertson – Hull City

A virtual unknown outside his native Scotland this £2.85 million pound summer signing has so far repaid Steve Bruce’s faith in him. Dangerous from the left early on where he was giving Phi𒁏l Bardsley a torrid time and then defensively solid as the game wore and Hull had to play with ten men. Will feel aggrieved that a suspect decision led to the equalising goal.

Right Midfield

Eric Lamela – Tottenham Hotspur

Unable to make any impact last season and criticised by the Match of the🌺 Day pundits somewhat unfairly after his performꦗance against West Ham last week, it was good to see this undoubtedly talented midfielder put in an effective display. He was the best player on the park and picked up two assists as part of what looks to be a dangerous Spurs outfit.

Central Midfield

Etienne Capoue – Tottenham Hotspur

Another player who struggled last season and appeared to be on hi𒁃s way out of the club, this classy defensive midfielder has been excellent so far th🤡is season. He is the league’s most accurate passer thus far and is soma player of the type that Arsenal and Manchester United both sorely lack.

Central Midfield

Cesc Fabregas – Chelsea

After two majestic displays upon his return to the Premier League, Cesc Fabgregas appears likely to appear in team of the week’s more regularly than most. The most complete midfielder in the league was the driving force behind Chelsea’s second hal🍸f improvement, creating a number of chances and grabbing a third assist in two games.

Left Midfield

David Silva – Manchester City

Manchester City laid down a marker to their rivals in their entertaining three one win over Liverpool at the Etihad. Whilst not his most spectacular game in a City shirt Silva’s effortless grace and gentle probing and passing threatened Liverpool all game. The little Spaniard will prove cruc🌌ial in the Citizen’s attempts to retain the title.

Striker

Stevan Jovetic – Manchester City

The real star of the show at the Etihad was Montenegrin Jovetic. He showed a good goal poachers instinct to sniff out the first of his two goals and then a lovely touch and expert finish when linking 🏅up with Nasri for his second. His build up play all night was a joy to behold and he provides City with yet another dangerous option going forward.

Striker

Mauro Zarate – West Ham United

After a fairly unproductive spell several years ago with Birmingham City, it is unlikely that Crystal Palace or indeed West Ham fans thought that the diminutive Argentinian would have 𝓡such a significant impact on Saturday’s result. Yet Za♏rate inspired West Ham to a stylish and comprehensive win away from home. He scored a spectacular goal and was constantly picking up space in front of Palace’s back four. A constant menace.
