Phil Jagielka comments on returning to Everton with Sheffield United this weekend
🍰Former Everton captain Phil Jagielka is gearing up for his first return to Goodison Park since leaving the club this summer and rejoining Sheffield United.
𝐆And as per the he has been sharing on his thoughts on how he’ll feel when he returns to Merseyside when Chris Wilder’s men travel to face the Toffees this weekend.
🦄He : “The first game I looked at when I signed was when we would be playing Everton. I can’t really tell you exactly what I expect or how I will feel emotionally but it is a match I am looking forward to.
🙈“It will be a really strange feeling for me to go to Goodison. I wasn’t able to go back to Bramall Lane in an Everton shirt and that would have generated similar emotions. To be at a club so long and go back will be quite strange and, I imagine, generate a mixture of emotions.”

TBR’s View – Might Jagielka remain a useful alternative for Everton to have?
🦩Everton let Jagielka leave during the summer, perhaps hoping that a permanent deal for Kurt Zouma – or indeed Fikayo Tomori – would be forthcoming.
ꦫIt wasn’t, and as a result, Everton look a little light of options at centre half. Michael Keane and Yerry Mina have quality but not especially hot competition for places at the heart of defence.
🐓Jagielka wouldn’t play a huge part at Goodison – he didn’t last season – but having him as an option and also to guide his younger colleagues might help after a weekend where Everton defended dismally at Bournemouth.
