Phil Hay shares what he’s now hearing about Neco Williams’ potential move to Leeds
Leeds United need a new right-back.
The Whites have already lost two options in that area this month with Djed Spence and Luke Ayling both already departing.
That leaves Leeds incredibly thin in that area, but with the January window open, there’s a chance to🍰 bring in reinforcements.
Speaking on , Phil Hay has been discussing Leeds’ search for a new right-back, and he’s discussed the club’s interest in Neco Williams.
According to Hay, Leeds do really like Williams, but, unfortunately, Nottingham Forest have no intention of letting the Welshman go as Nuno Espirito Santo is said to be a big fan of the player.

Williams not available this month
Hay shared what he knows about Williams.
“My impression was that they would be active on full-backs this month, I mentioned Neco Williams on Monday as someone they really do like, but all the indications from Forest are that Nuno 𝔍who has just come in for Steve Cooper also really likes him, and is ꦏnot interested in letting him go,” Hay said.
Wait and see
Nottingham Forest are currently briefing that Williams isn’t available, but we wouldn’t be too shocked if this ꦑstance changed towards the end of the transfer window.
Indeed, once Serge Aurier is back available for select🎶ion, Williams may well end up being Forest’s third-choice right-back, and if that is the case, he could be available if Leeds do send a decent offer over.
Williams is certainly a talented player, and he’s been promoted from the Championship before with Fulham back in the 2021/22 seasonꦫ.
Leeds do need to have other options in mind just in case Forest do stick by their stance that Williams isn’t for sale, but we wo🌊uldn’t be at all shocked if the former Liverpool man did come onto the market aꦐt some point towards the end of the month.
