Paul Scholes and Jamie Carragher have one big ‘worry’ about Dominic Solanke at Tottenham
Dominic Solanke made his Premier League debut for Tottenham Hotspur in their 1-1 draw against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.
The England international sealed a move to Spurs from Bournemouth earlier this summer for a fee believed to be in the region of £65m.
Solanke was praised by Ange Postecoglou despite failing to score against Leicester as he kept defenders occupied and made darting runs into the opposition’s penalty area.
Ally McCoist believes Solanke will hit the ground running at Tottenham, but Paul Scholes and Jamie Carragher seem to think his finishing is a bit of a worry.
Scholes and Carragher agree on Dominik Solanke worry for Tottenham

Solanke scored 19 Premier League goals for Bournemouth last season and will look to carry on in the same vein for his new club.
Scholes believes the 26-year-old needs to get off the mark immediately to ease the pressure on his shoulders and endear himself to the Tottenham fans.
“He has got to get going soon – the longer that goes on, it will be a problem,” Scholes said on The Overlap.
“You said at the very start he was a proven striker. He has been for one season. He has to do it again at a club that is the next level. I worry about him finishing-wise.
Carragher echoed Scholes’ claims, adding that Solanke is more of a subdued personality who lacks the ‘football arrogance’ of someone like Ivan Toney.
Carragher said: “I do a little bit [worry about Solanke]. I want him to do well but sometimes I look at certain players, and I might be wrong, but he looks shy a little bit when he plays.
“I made the comparison with when you watch Toney play, he is just strutting around, owning the pitch. He has that football arrogance.
“I hope we are not talking in five or six games’ time and the press and the media are going about asking ‘Has he scored his first goal yet?'”
Scholes concluded by saying that Solanke’s overall performance against Leicester was ‘really good’ despite his failure to score, although he admitted a centre-forward is always going to be judged based on his goal tally.
Solanke should start firing for Tottenham soon
With Harry Kane departing the club last summer, Postecoglou refrained from dipping into the market to sign his replacement.
However, with Solanke now at Tottenham, he is expected to lead the line and ease the goalscoring burden on Son Heung-min, who is their only consistent source of goals in attack.
Only Erling Haaland (27), Cole Palmer (22) and Alexander Isak (21) scored more Premier League goals than Solanke’s 19 last season.
The 26-year-old is now surrounded by better teammates and leads the line for a team that is drilled to play attacking football, so he won’t be short of chances.
That said, he will hope to get off the mark soon to ease the pressure of his massive price tag and the expectations of playing for a top-six side.
