Paul Merson shares who out of Tottenham and Manchester United he thinks could win the Europa League as last-16 draw confirmed

Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are both in the last 16 of the Europa League and will fancy their chances of going all the way.

ꦑSpurs finished fourth in the Europa League group table, with the Red Devils a place above, which was more than enough for automatic qualification.

Both won five games, with Tottenham drawing two and Manchester United🍌 drawing three. Spurs lost one, while the Red Devils were unbeaten in the first round.

Paul Mersonꦬ has now spoken about both Tottenham and Manchester United in the context of the Europa League, sharing who out of the two is likelier to go on and win it.

Paul Merson backs Tottenham to win the Europa League and can’t see Manchester United winning it

🍎Merson mostly focused on Tottenham in his latest article, saying they should prioritise the Europa League this season.

꧒He also said the Spurs fans should understand that, in order to do so, they will have to “sacrifice some games” in the Premier League.

♛Merson said Tottenham “definitely have a chance” of winning it, but he couldn’t see how Man United could do the same.

✅“Tottenham should go all in on winning the Europa League,” Merson wrote on .

ꦰ“If Spurs win it, they can get in the Champions League next season.

𝔍“The fans need to understand they will have to sacrifice some games in the league for them to win the Europa League and get back to playing with the big boys in Europe.

Who Tottenham and Manchester United are playing in the Europa League last 16

♒The Europa League draw took place on Friday 21 February, with Tottenham being drawn against AZ and Man United drawing Real Sociedad.

🧔The first legs will be played on March 6 with the second legs taking place on March 13.

𝔍Both English sides are away in the first leg, and can only meet if both get to the final.

ඣThe final of the Europa League will be held on Wednesday 21 May at the Estadio de San Mames in Bilbao.
