Paul Merson predicts Liverpool vs Tottenham result and says Spurs will ‘surely’ do one thing

Liverpool take on Tottenham Hotspur in a game that could end the Premier League title race.

The Reds have been the favourites to lift the title for a long time now, and they could finally make it official at Anfield on Sunday.

Liverpool need just a point to make it impossible for Arsenal to catch them, and many people expect them to get over the line against Spurs.

Paul Merson has now had his say on what he thinks will happen at Anfield.

Paul Merson predicts the result of Liverpool vs Tottenham

Tottenham and Liverpool have had very different seasons.

Arne Slot’s side are on the verge of winning the Premier League title, while Spurs, in some ways, are lucky not to be in a relegation battle

The North Londoners are going into the weekend 16th in the Premier League table, having won just 11 of their 33 games.

That is a shocking return, and it is why Ange Postecoglou is expected to leave Tottenham this summer, even if he wins the Europa League.

Speaking of Spurs’ European dream, Merson has claimed that Postecoglou will ‘surely’ rest his key players against Liverpool on Sunday.

That is why the pundit has predicted a comfortable Liverpool win, but he went as far as saying that the Reds would come out on top even if Postecoglou plays all of his key players.

He told : “Nothing but a Liverpool win here. Tottenham will surely rest key players for the Europa League semi-final vs Bodo/Glimt.

“Even if Spurs played their main team, I wouldn’t fancy them to beat Liverpool at Anfield.”

Tottenham could’ve been in Liverpool’s position now if Daniel Levy had done one thing

Ange Postecoglou and Arne Slot’s careers have taken very different turns.

Back in the summer of 2023, the two managers were among the most exciting ones in Europe, so much so that Tottenham considered appointing both of them.

Slot was even the favourite at one point in May of that year, but the Dutchman decided to ‘pull the plug’ and stayed at Feyenoord (.

Tottenham went with Postecoglou in the end, but if Levy had pushed harder for Slot and secured his services, maybe, just maybe, Spurs would’ve been in Liverpool’s position right now.

But, that didn’t happen then, and Daniel Levy is now looking for replacements for Postecoglou.
