Paul Merson makes shock Bournemouth vs Tottenham prediction and fires Ange Postecoglou warning

Tottenham Hotspur travel to the Vitality Stadium to take on high-flying Bournemouth in what promises to be an entertaining game of Premier League football.

🧜The two sides endured contrasting fortunes last weekend but are separated by just two points in the league table.

While Bournemouth secured a 4-2 away win against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Tottenham𝄹 were held to a 1-1 home draw by Fulham in a game that saw Tom Cairney score the equaliser and receive a straight red card.

And Paul Merson feels Ange Postecoglou’s♉ side are about to drop points once again as he delivered a rather grim verdict on their top-four hopes.

Merson predicted Tottenham to lose to Fulham🦂 last week but that wasn’t the case as the two sides shared the spoils.

ಞHowever, he claimed that the game wouldn’t be as straightforward as it was made out to be, which was just how things transpired as Marco Silva’s side gave them a run for their money.

🌌The Arsenal icon feels Spurs’ inconsistency will come to the fore once again, with Postecoglou’s side also drawing 2-2 against AS Roma in the UEFA Europa League in midweek.

𝐆“Spurs were expected to kick on after that 4-0 win over Manchester City,” wrote Merson in his column as he predicted a 2-1 win to Bournemouth.

ꦺ“But they have actually been quite disappointing in draws against mid-table sides like Roma and Fulham.

ꦚ“I don’t usually go against Tottenham a lot in my predictions, but I’m changing that here because they’ve been frustrating to watch since that win over City. I’m backing Bournemouth to get the win on home turf.

Merson sends message to Postecoglou

𝔍After the 2-2 draw against Roma, Postecoglou appeared to suggest his main priority was to play entertaining football at Tottenham, as opposed to winning games and in turn, trophies.

🍃“Isn’t it why we all come? Would you really prefer us to sketch out a couple of 0-0 draws and a 1-0 win and we get through? I don’t know.”

ܫIt’s safe to say his comments divided opinion among fans and pundits. Merson, meanwhile, clearly wasn’t impressed with his claims and sent an important message to the Tottenham boss.

ꦫ“Ange Postecoglou stressed his desire to remain entertaining instead of closing out games after the draw against Roma.

♔“He needs to be careful about what he’s saying, you are there to get results not to entertain everyone.”

Tottenham are backing Postecoglouꦿ despite their lukewarm start to the season, but the former Celtic boss needs to deliver something memorable at the end of the season to vindicate the faith in him as he has been backed tremendously at the club so far.
