Patrice Evra impressed with Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko

Sky Sports pundit Patrice Evra has lauded Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Moussa Sissoko, claiming the star is vital for Jose Mourinho.

The £30 million star () started once again for Spurs yesterday against Crystal Palace – his ninth in a row in the Premier League.

The Frenchman is clearly a favourite of manager Jose Mourinho, and his partnership with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been developing nicely.

In the eyes of Evra, Sissoko is now a key influence in the Spurs starting XI and his contributions could be huge in terms of a potential title charge.

He said on Sky Sports before yesterday’s game (): “Mourinho teams are very difficult to beat and he has a strong midfield.

“I would like to talk about Sissoko because we don’t give enough credit to a player like him.

“Such a generous player, he can cover Serge Aurier, really generous, strong, so I think that’s where they’re winning the games, in the midfield.”

TBR’s View – Sissoko key for Spurs

Sissoko’s mobility, energy and tenacity is clear to see and it’s not difficult to see why Mourinho routinely picks him.

He may not be a fancy technician that contributions goals and assists, but the work he does in the engine room and the help he gives to Serge Aurier is invaluable.

He didn’t end up having his best outing against Palace yesterday, but successful teams need players with traits like Sissoko in order for the superstars to go and express themselves, and Mourinho knows that full well.
