‘One winner’… Who’ll have more power out of Al-Hilal and Newcastle if Ruben Neves move is made
Journalist Ben Jacobs has shared who’ll have more power out of Al-Hilal and Newcastle United should Eddie Howe’s side move for Ruben Neves.
Jacobs has been speaking on this morning and Gabriel Agbonlahor was convinced Newcastle could snap up Ruben Neves in January.
♕It comes after a motion to ban related-party loan deals in the Premier League this week, meaning Newcastle can sign players from PIF-owned clubs in the winter transfer window.
The Magpies have been heavily linked with a move for Al-Hilal’s Neves as they search for a replacement for Sandro Tonali.
Indeed, reports that Newcastle have already made a proposal to Neves ahead of a potential January switch.

😼The Portuguese midfielder only joined Al-Hilal from Wolves over the summer but is already being linked with a move back to England.
꧑But should Newcastle move for Neves and Al-Hilal want to keep hold of him, there would only be ‘one winner’. And according to Jacobs, that would be the Saudi Pro League outfit.

👍Speaking on talkSPORT, Agbonlahor questioned whether Newcastle can snap up Neves after Premier League clubs voted against a temporary ban on loan deals between associated clubs in January.
🐼He said: “Surely if Neves is available and the Newcastle owners look at him, it’s going to help Newcastle get into the Champions League again and help them get into the top four because Newcastle are desperate for someone in that position.
“Surely you can see that happening.”
ಞBut Jacobs insisted that despite Newcastle and Al-Hilal both being owned by PIF, the Saudi Pro League project is ‘bigger’ than the one at St James’ Park.
🍃“Well I mean you can create a neat narrative but it fails to take into account the fact that the Saudi Pro League project is bigger than Newcastle,” the journalist said.
💟“And even though the Premier League is the biggest league in the world and you would think that PIF would deal with PIF and want to make that happen, Al Hilal and senior figures there don’t.
🐈“Newcastle will argue there is separation between themselves and the Saudi government, that will come under scrutiny.
ඣ“But with the Saudi Pro League it is clear that all the decisions and money come from the Ministry of Sport and PIF working in conjunction, so because of that overarching structure and acceptance in Saudi Arabia that it all comes down from the government, if there was to be a debate over Neves and Newcastle pushed for him and there was push back from Al Hilal and the ministry of sport there would only be one winner in that conversation and it would be Al Hilal.”

🌌Should Newcastle move for Neves, they could seemingly face an uphill battle to land the midfielder.
Indeed, has also reported this week that Neves is happy in the Middle East and will not be on the move in January.
𓆉Neves has been heavily linked with Tottenham and Arsenal, as well as Newcastle.
💮Despite this week’s vote, it would appear that Newcastle may have to look elsewhere in their search for a new midfielder.
