Man City new-boy Omar Marmoush admits he wants to “learn” from Erling Haaland

With the arrival of the Egyptian international, Pep Guardiola could pair him up with Erling Haaland.

A Manchester City insider compared Marmoush to Julian Alvarez, who the Cairo-born goalscorer can finally replace.

In his first interview with Manchester City, Marmoush admitted that he cannot wait to play alongside Haaland and also learn from him.

“Very, very excited. Erling [Haaland] is a machine, a goal machine, I’m very excited to see him, to play with him on the pitch, to learn from him also some things and hopefully, to assist him like you said and hopefully, we will enjoy playing together.”

Signed for an initial £59 million () fee from Eintracht Frankfurt, Marmoush could prove to be the spark Manchester City need to reignite their flailing season.

Marmoush is tipped to become better than Salah, which highlights how incredibly highly he is rated.

In recent weeks, Manchester City’s form has certainly improved in the Premier League, as they are unbeaten in their last five games.

But the Sky Blues’ latest 4-2 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League reflected that they remain far from their unplayable best.

Man City star Omar Marmoush says he can play in “all positions”

During his first interview with City’s official in-house media, Marmoush revealed that he feels comfortable playing in a variety of roles, namely as a striker, on both flanks as well as both in attacking and central midfield.

“I’ve played many positions. In the national team, I’m always playing on the left-wing most of the time. At my former club, I was playing number nine and sometimes, a 10.”

However, when asked to name his favourite position, Marmoush stated that it is playing as a number 10.

“Also played as an eight, right-wing, so, I think I can play all positions. I feel most comfortable under a striker, so in the 10 position where I can just turn and the way to the goal is shorter.”

“But again, I feel comfortable in all positions and wherever I play, I will always give my all to help the team.”

Arsenal and Newcastle scouted Marmoush, who was one of the most sought-after players in the world before his move to the Etihad Stadium.

While Liverpool were in talks to sign Marmoush as well.

However, the versatile technician is a Manchester City player now and it will be interesting to see whether he features against Chelsea on Saturday.
