Robbie Fowler gives brutal Darwin Nunez verdict after watching him during Liverpool v Accrington Stanley
Liverpool might have comfortably seen off Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup but Robbie Fowler has delivered a harsh verdict when it comes to Reds striker, Darwin Nunez.
Nunez 🦄was given a rare start in the number nine position by Arne Slot but despite toiling all day against lower league opposition, couldn’t get on the scoresheet.
The Uruguayan striker is very much ‘marmite’ among the Liverpool fans. Indeed, 💯Reds fans suggested recently they wish they’d got Alexander Isak instead of Nunez.
And now, adding further pressure onto Nunez’s shoulders, club legend Robbie Fowler𓂃 has suggested Nunez just isn’t ever going to be the man at Anfield.

Robbie Fowler unimpressed by Darwin Nunez
ཧFowler was speaking about the Liverpool forward during the game’s live coverage and as Nunez continued to struggle, the Liverpool legend suggested time might be up for the Uruguayan.
🌱“The more I see him, the more I think he’s not a Liverpool player,” Fowler said.
🦄“People might have go at me for saying this and say ‘oh he works hard,’ but you’re not signing a player because he works hard, that should be a pre-requisite.
꧅“You’ve got to come in and score goals and I know he’s a fan favourite but at the time we’re talking now you’ve got to play better and do better in a Liverpool shirt.”
Criticism of Nunez is nothing brand new
♊Darwin Nunez will know full well that he can do better in a Liverpool shirt and as it stands, he’s just not produced for the outlay Liverpool made.
♕Indeed, criticism of the forward is nothing brand new either and this isn’t the first time Fowler has questioned him either.
Furthermore, another Liverpool legend, Steve Nicol, has previously questioned Nunez and the mental side of his game.
ꦯ“If they have someone who can sit and talk to him, keep reassuring him and all those things but at the end of the day, most of it comes down to the player himself,” Nicol said.
♏“Unfortunately right now, he can’t get out of his own way. The harder it gets, the less you see. When you’re struggling, the blinkers come on and all of a sudden, everything gets difficult.”
♛As it stands, Nunez is under pressure and while ever he’s not scoring goals, then others like Jota, Diaz and Gakpo will remain ahead of him.
