Norwich City plot Southampton raid for Angus Gunn as Tim Krul challenger ahead of Premier League return
According to , Norwich City are plotting a raid on Southampton to sign Angus Gunn a💛s competition for Tim Krul ahead of their return to the Premier League.
Daniel Farke’s Canaries are drawing up options who can strengthen the goalkeeper selection at Carrow Road, with doubt in t🅰he future of Orjan Nyland as the Norwegian stalls over an offer to extend his stay beyond the current season.
Nyland is hesitant to commit his future to the Norfolk outfit after failing to following his January arrival from Aston Villa, with Krul the undisputed first choice and keeping over his 36 Championship outings thi🅰s term.

G🦩unn ꦐis thought to be among the options under consideration at Carrow Road should Norwich be forced to sign a new number two, as Southampton are open to selling the former Canaries prospect should he not return for a second season on loan with Stoke City.
The 25-year-old was set to spend two campaigns at the bet365 Stadium but the pl🧔an could be scrapped, as the Potters intend to rotate between Gunn and Adam Davies next term to raise the potential for a move elsewhere this summer.
Southampton are yet to make a final decision on Gunn’s future, although🌺 Ralph Hasenhuttl is said to be open-minded to cashing in on the England international with the Saints boss keen to sell unwanted players to raise funds for hi♈s own summer signings.
Norwich are also yet to make contact with the St. Mary’s natives over Gunn’s situation while the goalkeeper𓃲 may ov🦩erlook a return to Carrow Road, knowing that he will not be the first choice and have to settle for a back-up role to Krul.
TBR’s view:
The potential for Southampton to sell Gunn this summer will be high as the goalkeeper has two years left on hiܫs contract, but does not appear likely to💯 fulfil Hasenhuttl’s expectations having not featured at St. Mary’s when beaten 9-0 by Leicester City.
Hasenhuttl had cl𒀰aimed Gunn ‘has a big future’ () earl🌸ier in 2019 after keeping a clean sheet on his top-flight debut at Chelsea, only to fall out of favour within a year and failed to thrive with Stoke since joining the Championship side on loan.
In , of which he started 14, Gunn kept six clean sheets but also conceded 21 goal🌸s, while only featuring once between the middle of March and the end of the season earlier this month, to hardly warrant a return to being Hasenhuttl’s number one next season.
