‘Nobody paid attention’: Pundit says everyone underestimated £17m Tottenham player
Tottenham have really snook up on the Premier League this season.
Last term, the north London club were genuinely struggling in mid-table, but, this season, they’re starting to look more and more like title contenders.
Of course, a lot of that is down to the impact of Ange Postecoglou, but we mustn’t avoid giving credit to the recruitment staff at Tottenham.
Indeed, Spurs have made a number of fantastic signings, but, interestingly, in the summer, they weren’t being hailed as the winners of the transfer window or anything of the sort.
The likes of Micky Van de Ven have exceeded expectations, and speaking on , Janusz Michallik has been full of praise for Guglielmo Vicario, claiming that the Italian was underestimated by many fans when he arrived.
Vicario was underestimated
The pundit spoke about the man.
“It’s easy to point at James Maddison, all the goals and how they’re scoring in so many different ways. But defensively what he’s done is even more impressive. They’re the second-best defensive team, look at Vicario, Google probably went down when Vicario came to London because nobody paid attention to who he was, but, today, we’re talking about Sanchez, Onana and Raya, here you have Vicario who is excellent,” Michallik said.
Vicario has been brilliant
Goalkeeper recruitment was one of the big stories of the summer amongst the top six, and it’s fair to say that Tottenham have won that battle with ease.
As Andre Onana and David Raya continue to struggle, Vicario has hit the ground running at Tottenham.
He’s made a string of brilliant saves, and we can only give him credit for Tottenham’s current league position.
Vicario was an understated signing when he came in, but it has to be said that he’s proven to be an absolute bargain and one of the buys of the summer.
