Newcastle United could yet resurrect move to sign ‘electric’ Premier League player this summer

Newcastle United have enjoyed a busy start to the summer transfer window having snapped up four players already.

Lewis Hall’s loan switch from Chelsea was made permanent earlier this month while the club have also swooped to land Lloyd Kelly and John Ruddy on free transfers.

The departures of academy product Elliot Anderson and talented winger Yankuba Minteh have also ensured Newcastle stay on the right side of Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR). It means the Magpies will be able to spend more freely this summer as Eddie Howe bids to add quality to his side.

﷽A new winger is expected to be a priority for Newcastle, particularly as they lacked depth off the right-hand side last season.

♛And according to , Howe’s men could reignite their interest in a current Premier League winger.

Newcastle could resurrect Anthony Elanga interest

Just last week, ⛄Newcastle were labelled as the favourites to snap up Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest.

♕Of course, the Magpies have already done plenty of business with the Midlands club this summer, with Anderson completing a switch to the City Ground and Odysseas Vlachodimos moving to St James’ Park.

꧅While The Northern Echo claims that Elanga’s position was discussed during talks over Anderson, talks were never at an advanced stage.

💛However, Newcastle could yet resurrect their interest in Elanga and re-open talks with Forest.

Newcastle target Elanga described as ‘electric’

🔴Elanga has kicked on since leaving Manchester United last summer, racking up 14 goal involvements in the Premier League last season.

♋The 22-year-old’s performances left many wondering why the Red Devils decided to offload their academy product, particularly as Antony struggled last season.

⭕Former Man United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer described the winger as an ‘electric’ forward back in July 2021 after handing Elanga an opportunity at Old Trafford.

💮“The first goal had some great passes, some combination play, a big switch from Nemanja {Matic], some good play and a great volley from Anthony who’s just improving and getting better and better. The boy is electric, has energy and enthusiasm, he’s really enjoying himself,” he of Elanga after a 2-2 draw with Brentford.

𝔍“He’s done himself the world of good. We know he’s a good player, we know he’s a good lad. He works so hard, he’s always smiley, bright, asking what more he needs to do, he’s so hungry to improve and get better. He can play wide left, wide right, up front.. so anywhere along the front line. He’s going to be an asset.”
