New Preston North End boss Paul Heckingbottom keen on hijacking Watford striker deal
- EXCLUSIVE from Graeme Bailey
Preston North End have appointed a new manager this week and Paul Heckingbottom is already looking to bolster his options.
PNE𒅌 saw Ryan Lowe leave the club just three days into the new season before interim boss Mike Marsh walked away last weekend.
North End now have a new boss secured having appointed former Sheffield United boss Paul Heckingbottom earlier this week.
🀅Heckingbottom arrives alongside former Blades assistant Stuart McCall and will take charge against Luton Town this weekend.

Preston North End want Daniel Jebbison
TBR Football understands that Heckingbottom is trying to pull off a huge transfer coup by hijacking Watford’s deal for Bournemouth striker Daniel Jebbison.
ꦉJebbison left Sheffield United for Bournemouth this summer and played under Heckingbottom at Bramall Lane.
ꦬWatford beat more than half-a-dozen Championship rivals to reach agreement with Jebbison for him to join the club, although the deal is not scheduled to go through until next week after Bournemouth’s game this weekend with Newcastle United.
Sunderland were interested in Jebbison🍃 but have backed away from the race in order to focus on other targets.
♒Heckingbottom is already working hard on bolstering his options at PNE and TBR can confirm that talks have taken place about Jebbison.
🔥Heckingbottom is a huge fan of Jebbison having given him his debut for Sheffield United and he is keen to be reunited.
📖Whilst a deal has been agreed with Watford, the deal is not yet signed, giving PNE and Heckingbottom some hope that they can lure him to Deepdale.
PNE striking options
🐠Heckingbottom inherits a strike force led by Will Keane, who scored 13 Championship goals last season.
💟 report that West Bromwich Albion have had an approach for Keane rejected.
🐽Montenegro international Milutin Osmajic is also at Heckingbottom’s disposal whilst Emil Riis is inside the final year of his contract.
ꦐLayton Stewart is yet to start a Championship game since arriving from Liverpool in 2023 and Ched Evans has now taken on a player-coach role at Deepdale.
💎21-year-old Jebbison played 32 times under Heckingbottom at Sheffield United, registering three goals and one assist.
