‘Nasty’… Brendan Rodgers delivers double injury update after Celtic beat Hibs

Celtic’s win over Hibs last night ends Brendan Rodgers’ winless run over the Edinburgh club at Easter Road.

But more importantly, it extends Celtic’s lead at the to🌼p of the table to three points which puts pressure on Rangers to win their game in hand over Ross County next Wednesday.

An early Adam Idah penalty put the Hoops 1-0 up in the first fiv𝕴e minutes but Hibs fought back in the second-half to equalise through a Dylan Levitt 60th-minute piledriver.

However, Idah stepped up once again in the final m𓄧inute to dispatch his second penalty of the game to seal all three points for the Parkhead side.

Whilst the win was welcomed, it came at a cost. Alistair Johnston was stretchered off after a clash of heads and Stephen Welsh was subbed in the s𒐪econd half and was spotted hob📖bling off.

Rodgerꦐs was asked about both players post-match as the Celtic manager laments the possibility of losing ܫanother two defenders to injury.

On Alistair Johnston Rodgers said [], “Yeah, it was a nasty one for him. I think he’s gone to t🦄he hღospital. So I’ll find out a wee bit more later.”

And when asked about Stephen Welsh, the Celti♚c manager continued, “He felt tight on his hamstring. So we’ll have to see that with the medical team tomorrow.”

Celtic can ill-afford to have ꦺany more players on the treatment table. Rodgers has had a horrific run of luck with injuries this season and could face the prospect of having another two defenders out for the visit of St Mirren.

With Cameron Carter-Vickers and Greg Taylor both out with mid-term injuries🍃, Rodgers faces the prospect of playing an in-form St M൲irren side with a patchwork back four.

However, the most important thing was that Ce🐟ltic pick another three vi🃏tal points in the race for the Scottish Premiership.
