Micah Richards says player Aston Villa sold for just £5m is a unique talent
Micah Richards has heaped praise on Jaden Philogene – who Aston Villa sold in 2023 – heralding him as a unique talent.

෴Well, Aston Villa surprisingly decided to sell the England U21 international to Hull City back in September for a sum of .
🌼That was despite the fact Philogene Unai Emery during pre-season.
🐻Now – after the Hull City No.23 scored a quite remarkable goal against Rotherham – Richards has spoken very highly of the winger.
ꦗThe man who made appearances for Aston Villa : “It was ridiculous… wow. A little bit of freedom, a little bit of flair to even try it. The audacity to do that… and then the execution was just sublime. So difficult to do.”
🤡Lineker then asked Richards whether he felt Philogene’s goal was better than Alejandro Garnacho’s stunning overhead kick for Manchester United at Goodison Park earlier this season, which is when the 22-year-old was described as a unique player, one of very few players who could net a goal like that.
ꦆThe man from Birmingham added: “I think more people could do that (Garnacho goal). I don’t think enough people could get the meg, the chop and the rabona all in one (like Philogene). That is harder to do.”
Aston Villa may regret selling Philogene
🌸You can understand why the Villans allowed Philogene to depart after signing Moussa Diaby in a deal from Bayer Leverkusen.
𓂃Competition in the attacking department is fierce at Villa Park with Leon Bailey, John McGinn, Nicolo Zaniolo, Jacob Ramsey, Morgan Rogers and Diaby all vying for playing time in forward areas.
♕Having said that, Philogene appears to be a real talent, one who Aston Villa may regret selling if he maintains this current level of performance at Hull City – only time will tell for certain.
