Mega-rich MLS side plan to sign both Mohamed Salah and Kevin De Bruyne in 2025
- EXCLUSIVE from Graeme Bailey
Both Liverpool and Manchester City could be at risk of losing two of their biggest stars to the MLS’ newest side, San Diego FC in 2025.
✱San Diego will begin playing in the MLS next year and are the most expensive franchise ever, having cost half a billion dollars.
ꦑThey are owned by British-Egyptian businessman Sir Mohamed Mansour, who owns the famed Right To Dream football academy in Ghana and also Danish side FC Nordsjaelland.
🦩San Diego have already made some moves, one being the recent signing of Mexican star Hirving Lozano who will take one of their three designated player slots.
ꦗThe spots allow clubs like San Diego to sign any player without it having any major impact on their finances.
That being said, TBR Football understands that Mansour is ready to help finance bids for both Mohamed Salah and Kevin De Bruyne.
San Diego ready to finance bids for Salah and De Bruyne
33-year-old De Bruyne is now often linked with a Man City exit and is a long-term target for San Diego.
🦹The Belgian is considering his options right now with his current deal due to expire in the summer.

ꦺDe Bruyne has previously stated his desire to experience American life and a move to California should therefore be appealing, but the deal on offer for the midfielder in Saudi Arabia is huge and remains under consideration.
ꦐThat being said, San Diego’s move for Salah is a bit more complicated.
As is the case with De Bruyne, Salah is out of contract at the end of the season – talks with Liverpool💧 are due to take place but Salah has long been the number one target for the Saudi Pro League as they look to bring in the world’s most high-profile Muslim player.
San Diego hoping they can stop Salah from joining the Saudi Pro Leageu
𝔉Salah is seen as someone who’s arrival in the Pro League would be transformative to football in that area, and luring him would be on the same scale as that of Cristiano Ronaldo.
🐷TBR understands that Salah’s offer to move to the Pro League would put him on par with Ronaldo as the highest paid footballer in the world.
🅷Whilst San Diego wouldn’t be able to match that bid for Salah, Mansour is hoping that his Egyptian links can help, even if he’s realised that the Pro League are in pole position to sign the forward if he leaves Anfield.
ౠIt would represent a real change of guard in the Premier League if Salah and De Bruyne left in the same summer, two icons of the English top flight.
ওBut San Diego clearly have rich ambitions, as do the Saudi Pro League.
