Manchester United verbally agree personal terms with player who scored just nine minutes into his international debut

Manchester United are continuing talks with Lecce over Patrick Dorgu and they have made progress on the deal, sources have confirmed to TBR Football.

ꦅUnited have been confident over doing a deal for Dorgu🐼 and are hoping their efforts are rewarded by the time the window slams shut in just over a weeks’ time.

Ruben Amorim♊ sees having the ideal full-backs as a necessity for his system and Dorgu has been identified as a player to fill the left-back slot.

Now, it appears United are edging closer to landing Patrick Dorgu, with personal terms broadly agreed.

Patrick Dorgu to Man United moves closer

TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey꧂ can confirm that United’s Director of Football Negotiations Matt Hargreaves was in Italy earlier this week to launch talks and although their opening offer of around €27million (£22million) for Dorgu was rejected, talks have continued.

♓Now United sources have confirmed to TBR Football that a second offer, which we understand is around the €33million mark, has been put to Lecce.

𓃲Lecce’s asking price for Dorgu is currently set at €40million.

🌄Whilst talks between the clubs continue, we can confirm that personal terms are in place with Dorgu’s representatives verbally accepting United’s offer.

Patrick Dorgu’s impressive stats for Lecce this season

🌜With the modern day full-back required to do more than ever, it seems that 20-year-old Patrick Dorgu is a player very much in the modern-day build. Indeed, it took him just nine minutes to score on his international debut for Denmark, such is his willingness to get forward.

𝓰His performance levels at Lecce have been excellent over the last two seasons, where he’s amassed more than 50 games in the red and yellow.

𒈔For United, his attacking output is obviously something they like the look at, while his age means he can develop into a long-term option at Old Trafford.

Patrick Dorgu’s Lecce stats since 2023
Appearances 56
Goals 5
Assists 2
Games missed through injury1
Games missed through suspension 2

𝄹Dorgu’s stats show he is a player who is generally available for selection as well, something that will be crucial for Ruben Amorim going into next season.
