Manager confirms ‘very complete’ player is in talks with Tottenham over move

Tottenham Hotspur are set to be busy on the transfer front over the coming weeks as Ange Postecoglou looks to apply the finishing touches to his squad.

Spurs have made two new signings so far, bringing Archie Gray to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and securing the signature of Yang Min-hyuk.

Both Gray and Yang are players for the future, but Tottenham could certainly do with some experienced additions that can hit the ground running.

It looks as though Spurs’ next signing could be just that kind of player, with his manager now confirming that he’s in talks over a prospective move.

Andoni Iraola confirms Dominic Solanke talks with Tottenham

The player in question is Dominic Solanke, who has been flying for Bournemouth in recent years.

According to , Tottenham are in advanced talks with the Cherries over a deal to sign the 27-year-old.

Now, Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola has confirmed that his “very complete” striker is in discussions over a move.

However, he reiterated that, as things stand, Solanke is still his player.

“I expected this to be the first question! I know talks are ongoing,” he told the .

“But right now he is our player. That is what I know. I cannot tell you much more.”

“Obviously for us, Dom is a very, very important player. But I cannot tell you how this is going to finish.

Iraola went on to praise the reported Tottenham target, saying: “Everyone focuses on the goals he scores. He scores a big percentage of our goals.

“But he gives us much more than goals. He is very complete. He helps us in all the phases of the game. He would be a big miss, obviously.

“He is someone who has been very involved. He played all the games in the past season.

“He scored a lot of goals. But if this happens, it has happened in other positions. We have to trust the people inside the club. I am sure they will be ready.

“But I repeat, right now, today, in this moment, Dom continues with us.”

Spurs on right track for Solanke signing

There has been substantial speculation regarding Tottenham and Solanke from journalists and transfer insiders over the past few days.

However, seeing it turn into something ‘official’ – as per Iraola’s press conference comments – confirms that it’s very much happening for real.

Tottenham seem to be on the right track for a player who is clearly highly rated by both Iraola and Postecoglou.

Hopefully it won’t be long before a “here we go” surfaces, and then Spurs will be on course to bring in a new No. 9.
