Man United interested in signing ‘immense’ £38m Brazilian who has been linked with Arsenal
Manchester United have now entered the race for a Premier League midfielder who is also thought to be on Mikel Arteta’s radar at Arsenal.
Both United and Arsenal find themselves searching for a new number six, someone who can operate just in front of the defence.
Arsenal only signed Declan Rice a year ago, but his forward progression to a more attacking role has created a new vacancy – one Jorginho can not fulfil alone.
And in United’s case, Erik ten Hag could still sanction departures for both Casemiro and Scott McTominay before the month ends.
Tottenham are interested in McTominay, and Fulham are also thought to be close to meeting United’s valuation for the Scotland international.
In Casemiro’s case, perhaps it’s more of a hope rather than an expectation that an interested side will advance for his signature in the next 24 days.
That being said, Joao Neves, who was of interest to both United and Arsenal according to reports, has now joined Paris Saint-Germain – stressing the need for both clubs to act quickly.
Man United join Arsenal in race to sign impressive Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes
To that end, are now reporting that Man United are interested in signing Wolverhamtpon Wanderers midfielder Joao Gomes.
Arsenal have been linked with Gomes already this summer, someone capable of playing both a number eight and six role for Arteta.

And according to the report mentioned, United have turned their attention to Gomes after ending their interest in PSG’s Manuel Ugarte.
Gomes is also of interest to Chelsea following Conor Gallagher’s move to Atletico Madrid which is now almost completed.
It’s believed that Gomes would cost around £38m this summer – an achievable fee for all the clubs mentioned.
23-year-old Gomes now has eight caps for Brazil after starting in all four games for his country in their disappointing Copa America campaign this summer.
And it’s clear that the versatile midfielder is destined for big things, definitely equipped to replace Casemiro at Manchester United.
Although, Gomes reportedly has a contract until 2028 with Wolves that also includes an option for a further year, meaning Gary O’Neil’s side will be in a strong position to negotiate.
All that being said, one midfielder has already rejected Liverpool because he wants to join United this summer.
