Lyon willing to meet £40m asking price for ‘incredibly fast’ Newcastle player

Lyon are willing to meet Newcastle United’s asking price for one player in what could deal a real blow to one of the Magpies’ Premier League rivals in the summer transfer window.

Newcastle appear to be gearing up to step their transfer business up in the coming days, having already signed Lloyd Kelly on a fr🦩ee transfer as his Bournemouth contra🐼ct runs down.

Newcastle hope t🦹o sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin from Everton in the coming days, but the Magpies are also mindful that they may have to sell players to bring funds in – and that has meant that talks with the Toffees have🤡 not only focused on Calvert-Lewin heading to St ℱJames’ Park.

Everton are interested in signing Yankuba Minteh off the back of the 19-year✃-old’s successful loan spell with Feyenoord.

The M♍a🀅il claims that Lyon are willing to meet Minteh’s asking price, while Everton have, so far, offered just £30 million for the teenager.

Onus now on Everton

It is not yet clear whether Everton would be willing to match what Lyon could put on the table, but clearly, a move would be a 🔴gamble given he has only played in the Danish top flight and Eredivisie in the early stages of his career.

You would imagine that Newcastle would prefer to keep the ‘‘ Minteh, 🔴given that he did score 10 league goals in 27 games last season, and the Magpies’ owners are hardly strapped for cash generally.

However, Newcastle clearly feel that Minteh’s superb season makes this the right time to sell so they can 🌳free up some funds to spend on Eddie Howe’s squad for the coming campaign.

They will be delighted that they are seemingly on course to g💜et their asking price f🐽or someone yet to actually make their Newcastle debut.
