‘Liverpool should be extremely proud’: Oxford United manager raves about Ben Woodburn

🔜Oxford United manager Karl Robinson has praised the way that Liverpool loanee Ben Woodburn has conducted himself this season.

෴, Robinson said that Woodburn gets targeted because of his reputation. This is why he is currently out with a foot injury.

൲Woodburn had an unsuccessful loan spell at Sheffield United last season but was starting to rebuild his name at Oxford. The Wales international scored once and provided five assists before suffering his injury.

ꦇRobinson predicts that Woodburn will bounce back from the injury. He thinks it will be a learning curve for the 20-year-old and it will make him a better player.

Robinson told the Blood Red🌳 podcast (): “When you look at this season he’s been really good, to the point he was one of the most fouled players in the league at one stage and took one tackle which ended up breaking his foot.

♈“Some people seem to think that’s okay that you can do that to young players but this injury will certainly make him a better player. Sometimes you have to deal with these situations to become a better player.

𝐆“He was certainly getting treatment in our league that I felt wasn’t fair. I think he was a marked man because of his reputation but he’s coped with it so well and Liverpool should be extremely proud of him.”

TBR’s view

ꦚBecause Woodburn burst onto the scene so early, it is easy to forget that he is still so young. Despite his poor season for Sheffield United, he still has time on his side.

🀅If the lively youngster can recover from his injury and light up at Oxford, he can show that he has a future at Liverpool. Robinson certainly believes Woodburn has potential to go all the way.
