Liverpool might actually end up signing £45m player before Florian Wirtz

Liverpool have not wasted any time in this summer transfer window.

Indeed, the window isn’t even officially open yet, and Liverpool have already signed Jeremie Frimpong.

The Reds have made their first signing of the summer, bringing in a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold the same day he officially departed.

Meanwhile, there could be more where that came from.

Liverpool are interested in Florian Wirtz, but according to Ben Jacobs, speaking on The Done Deal Show, there’s another transfer that could be confirmed by Liverpool before Wirtz comes through the door.

Milos Kerkez could join Liverpool before Florian Wirtz

Jacobs shared what he knows about Liverpool, Wirtz and Kerkez.

The journalist says Liverpool are confident about getting both of these deals done, but it may well be Kerkez who joins Liverpool first as this deal is more simple.

“Yeah, Liverpool are confident on Wirtz, it’s now a race between Kerkez and Wirtz to see who will be the next bit of business for Liverpool. Kerkez is a bit simpler because there is a price of over £40m, and if Liverpool meet that, maybe it goes as high as £45m, Kerkez has already agreed terms. Liverpool are leading the race for Kerkez, Kerkez wants to join Liverpool, and the expectation now is that it gets done,” Jacobs said.

Why Florian Wirtz deal could take longer than Milos Kerkez

Kerkez could join Liverpool before Wirtz, and the logistics of both deals do make sense here.

Indeed, Kerkez has no upcoming commitments as Hungary aren’t set for action during this upcoming international break.

Meanwhile, Florian Wirtz is set to play for Germany in a few days’ time against Portugal in the Nations League, and he’ll be preoccupied during this period with training, travel and playing.

Kerkez’s schedule is much more clear than Wirtz’s, and that could allow him the time needed to complete a move to Liverpool and become the Reds’ second signing of the summer.

Liverpool are getting their business done early, and the Reds could be set for a very exciting window.

Kerkez is a top player, and he could be the perfect complement to Frimpong on the opposite flank.
