Liverpool handed Champions League boost with Ibrahimovic out

Liverpool won’t face Ibrahimovic on Wednesday.

The Reds won’t be facing the dominant Swede as he’s been ruled out with injury for Wednesday night.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is no spring chicken anymore.

In just one month he’ll turn 40-years-old.

However, that hasn’t stopped him from scoring goals.

On the weekend Ibrahimovic became the oldest foreign player to score in Serie A as he bagged vs Lazio.

After feeling tightness in his achilles he’s being rested as a precaution for Milan’s trip to Anfield ().

Hopefully Liverpool fans will get to see Ibrahimovic face off against Van Dijk in the return leg.

If he is fit for the return leg then it will be his 7th game against Liverpool.

In the six games he’s played against Liverpool he’s winless and has scored just once ().

Liverpool fans will be able to take a lot of positives from the absence of Milan’s Swedish sensation.

In just 19 games last season in Serie A, Ibrahimovic scored 15 goals ().

He’ll have to be at his best when he’s fit if he’s to help Milan qualify from the group.

As well as Liverpool and AC Milan, Porto and Atletico Madrid make up the group.

In place of Ibrahimovic, Liverpool will have to deal with a combination of Olivier Giroud, Rafael Leao and Ante Rebic.

It won’t be easy for the Reds, but without Ibrahimovic it’s made ever so slightly easier.

The return leg against Milan isn’t until the final group game.

Hopefully by then Ibrahimovic is back and the Reds get to test themselves against him.
