Leon Goretzka claims Liverpool made offer for him two years ago
Bayern Munich star Leon Goretzka has claimed Liverpool were in for him before sealing his move to the German giants two years ago.
The Germany international has been speaking about his decision to join his current club, which he believed at the time was ‘100% percent’ the right move for him.
The Bavarian juggernaut didn’t have to part with any cash for Goretzka, signing him on a free transfer once his contract at Schalke had expired.

Since joining the club, Goretzka’s stock has soared and he is now viewed as one of the best central midfielders in the world. Indeed, described him as ‘world-class’.
But things may well have transpired differently, with the 25-year-old claiming Liverpool were in the frame to sign him.
: “They were a consideration, of course.
“They’re a great club, and their development since Klopp came has been amazing. We’re all a little proud of him winning the title.
“But I took a long time making my decision, and I was 100 percent sure that Bayern was the right move for me.”

TBR’s View – Liverpool haven’t missed out
Despite Goretzka’s rise, Liverpool haven’t really missed out having made huge strides under Jurgen Klopp in the past couple of years.
The Reds have been outstanding, winning a Champions League and a Premier League title and are undoubtedly one of the best sides in the world.
Goretzka would theoretically have been a nice addition, especially on a free transfer, but who knows if he’d have developed in the same way.
