Leeds United in talks to sign £15m striker compared to Jean-Philippe Mateta and he wants to join

TBR Football understand Leeds United have now opened talks with Southampton over a deal to sign Cameron Archer.

Daniel Farke currently has the Whites sitting at the top of the Championship – although the German could use some added fire🎉power in attack with Sheffield Uniteꦦd and Burnley in hot pursuit.

Joel Piroe boasts a respectable record of ten goals in 29 Championship appearances so far this season, but Mateo Joseph only has two goals in 28 🌺games, so Leeds could do with someone to push the Dutchman.

Now, sources have informed TBR Football that Leeds United are in talks with Southampton over a deal to sign Cameron Archer.

Graeme Bailey – Chief Correspondent at TBR Football – has now been told that Leeds are currently holding talks with Southampton over a deal for the 💖man born in Walsal🐲l.

Archer – who Southampton signed from Aston𝓀 Villa in a £15m deal back in August – has only made ten Premier League starts out of a possible 23 th🐲is season, scoring twice, and the Saints are ready to let him depart.

We understand Southampton would allow the 23-year-old to leave on loan, but will insist on an 🍰obligation for Leeds to buy him pe𒀰rmanently if they achieve promotion to the Premier League.

Sources have also told TBR Football that Sunderland are ready to make a bid for Archer as well, although Leeds – who face a fight to keep Pascal Struijk from Tottenham and Wolves – are in poꦺle position.

The Whites are also believed to have sho🌟wn an interest in Middlesbrough No.9 Emmanuel Latte Lath, but their at💯tention is now solely on the Southampton No.19 – who is understood to be keen on a move to Elland Road.

Archer boasts a strong record in the Championship, having previously scored 18 g🌠oals in 40 appearances for Middlesbrough and Preston.
