Leeds reportedly want midfielder that Jonathan Woodgate raved about in 2019

Leeds United are reportedly battling three other Premie꧂r League clubs for Middlesbrough midfielder Marcus Tavernier with the January transfer window now in full swing – and Jonathan Woodgate’s comments from 2019 will excite supporters.

Tavernier, 21, has caught the eye of Premier League clubs after impressing under ex-Leeds boss Neil Warnock this season and clocking up his 100th appearance in all competitions for the Teไesside club during last weওekend’s FA Cup loss to Brentford.

that Leeds are keeping tabs on Tavernier, who has a contract at Mi🍌ddlesbrough until the summer of 2023. However, Leeds face competition from Wolves, Everton and L♕eicester – all of which have made their interest known to Boro.

Woodgate managed Tavernier during his stint as Boro boss before Warnock replaced the ex-Leeds and Real Madrid de♕fender and his comments on the midfielder from November 2019 – – will excite Leeds supporters.

“Since he’s come in I think he’s done really good, he has a great drive about him enthusiasm,” “Okay, at times his final ball needs to improve but he’s a young player and Tav will getﷺ opportunities to score goals.

“He’s not a winger that’s going to go down the sides.♋ He’s more of a winger who comes inside and plays. He’s an opposite to a Stewart Downing, he’s going to come inside and try and play. He’s more of a midfield box-to-box player in my view.”

TBR’s view – Tavernier would be a top signing for Leeds

But i🗹f the Whites are looking to sign Tavernier and expect him to have an instant impact, then they need to go for someone much more experienced. Tavernier is boasting enormous potential and havi🃏ng clocked up 100 matches, he is fine-tuning that.

However, there ar🍌e plenty of raw elements to his game – Woodgate highlighting ♏his end product for example. It will be a few seasons before Tavernier produces his best form and until then, he needs regular game time.

At Leeds, he will not make an instant im𓂃pact especially as he would not start. But if he is given a few games here and there, he could prove to be a shrewd signing for Marcelo Bielsa’s men in the next couple of ye꧑ars.
