Leeds fans discuss Leo Hjelde on Twitter after West Ham tie

🉐A number of Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to discuss the performance of Leo Hjelde after the centre-back made his first-team debut in the FA Cup third round tie with West Ham on Sunday.

🍸With Leeds dealing with a raft of injuries, Hjelde was one of those promoted by Marcelo Bielsa. Lewis Bate also made his senior bow, while Sam Greenwood was handed a first start.

🌼Hjelde was arguably handed the toughest gig of the trio. Of course, Michail Antonio is a nightmare for centre-backs to come up against.

It proved to be a hugely frustrating occasion for the Whites. West Ham scored a highly controversial opener during the first-half, 📖with Jarrod Bowen not penalised for being in an offside position.

꧋And Stuart Attwell certainly did not endear himself to the fans as the game went on. He gave one free-kick against Hjelde during the second-half despite replays showing Nikola Vlasic was not touched before going to ground.

ﷺHjelde proved to be a real shining light for Bielsa’s men. The 18-year-old looked confident in possession. And he made some superb challenges up against the likes of Antonio and Bowen.

🌊Leeds are currently without Liam Cooper, Pascal Struijk and Charlie Cresswell at centre-back. And in truth, you would imagine that Bielsa would have wanted the former Celtic man to get more minutes for the under-23s under his belt before making his first-team debut.

𓄧But he looked extremely impressive at the London Stadium. It certainly appears that they have found another prospect who is destined to become a future first-teamer at Elland Road.
