‘Leave’… Angry fans now turn on £40m player after he was linked with move to Tottenham

Tottenham fans may recall the name of Jean-Clair Todibo following links with the OGC Nice No.6 in January.

Spurs opened talks with the Ligue 1 outfit over a deal for the defender in January before eventually signing Radu Dragusin – according to .

However – according to – Tottenham could still make another move to sign the France international this summer.

Now, there has been an interesting development involving Jean-Clair Todibo after links with Tottenham

Fans turn on Jean-Clair Todibo

Well, things got a little bit nasty in Nice on Friday night.

The French side suffered a 2-1 defeat to 12th placed Montpellier, with an own goal from Todibo in the 10th minute getting OGC Nice off to a terrible start.

Tempers flared inside the Allianz Riviera after the 90 minutes had ended, with the Tottenham target subjected to negative chants from fans, who could be heard shouting “if you’re not happy, leave the club” as per the .

Todibo may have angered supporters by teasing an exit last month, when he said: “I’ll wait until the summer to make my decision. If my decision is to stay, I’ll announce it, if it is to leave, I’ll announce it too and I’ll thank everyone, but we’re not there yet.”

Clearly, OGC Nice fans are unhappy with the 24-year-old, and presumably feel he should not be talking about a potential transfer while failing to deliver strong performances.

Tottenham told price

Regardless of his clash with fans, Spurs will still have to pay a pretty hefty fee to sign Todibo this summer.

The believe OGC Nice would be willing to sell the central defender for £40m, with Manchester United also interested.

That would make Todibo one of the most expensive defenders in Tottenham’s history alongside Cristian Romero and Pedro Porro, but if he continues to clash with supporters, that £40m asking price could well drop between now and the summer.
