Julen Lopetegui makes ‘very interesting’ claim about Luis Guilherme after his first appearance for West Ham

Following his pre-season debut for West Ham United, Julen Lopetegui has now commented on his new Brazilian signing Luis Guilherme.

Alongside both Max Kilman and Wes Foderi🌄ngham, Guilherme played 45 minutes🗹 against Ferencvaros in West Ham’s 2-2 draw on Monday.

Guilherme started the game at left-wing and was part of 💦a shaky defensiv🦩e performance from the Hammers, who conceded twice.

That being said, the 18-year-old, who has five caps for Brazil’s under-20s, was still able to create some excitement, demonstrating his lightning p𒈔ace when runni🦩ng at the opposition defence.

TBR Football spoke to a Brazilian football expert about wha🍒t West Ham canജ expect from Guilherme immꩲediately – who said that the winger will need some time to ada൲pt.

And when speaking about Guilherme’s first minutes after the game, Lopetegui confessed something similar.

Although he evidently possesses huge potential, the attacker is only at the beginning of his first-team career, having only amassed 45 appearances for Palmeiras in senior football t🐽o dateꦗ.

Julen Lopetegui backs Luis Guilherme to ‘adapt early’ at West Ham this season

After thr🎀owing Guilherme in the deep end, Lopetegui said that the Brazilian will need time to adapt in England, and confessed that everyone at West Ham will have to help him.

, Lopetegui said: “He’s very young and a good player. Of course he has to make his adaptation in England, but normally the good players canꦓ adapt early.

“We have to help him do🐭 that as soon ♔as possible. He’s a very interesting player for us.”

Of course, after their £25m move for Guilherme, West Ham will now need to focus some part of their remaining window on✨ finding a new str𒁏iker.

Although Danny Ings may have scored 🌳a commendable free-kick against Ferencvaros in the comeback on Monday, he surely isn’🦩t envisioned as a player who can lead this new era for Lopetegui.

Similarly, 34-year-old Michail Antonio, who is currently recovering from his efforts at Copa Ame💖rica 202🌊4, doesn’t signal the fresh new start Lopetegui may have hoped for.

West Ham need to find a new striker with both a st൲rong record of scoring and avoiding injury – a challenge that was never surmounted in David Moyes’ final years in east London.
