Leeds United forward Wilfried Gnonto is close to penning a new contract at Elland Road, according to Ben Jacobs.
The journalist took to on Tuesday afternoon to drop the exciting update involving the Leeds attacking talent.
Last summer, Gnonto reportedly tried to for🐼ce through a ꦓmove away from Elland Road following the club’s relegation to the Championship.
Everton tried to sign the 20-year-✨old, but they failed to make a breakthrough and, as such, the player stayed put at Leeds.
Gnonto and Leeds subsequently patched things up as the Italian apologised to Daniel Fa♎rke and returned to training. He has gone on to make 21 appearances this s🦩eason.
Now, Jacobs has claimed that Gnonto is clos🔯e to signing a new deal with Leeds, whose intention was always to resist any approaches for their player.
Better yet,♈ the player “is understood to have been extremely professional and focu💧sed despite new speculation,” added the CBS journalist.
Great news as Wilfried Gnonto edging closer to new Leeds United contract
Gnonto was one of the few bright spots in a miserable Leeds ca❀mpaign last time out, quickly winning fans over with his outstanding talent.
Although thingܫs did turn a bit sour in the summer as he looked to make the move, that is now in the past, and Gnonto is now doing his best to help the Whites back up at the first attempt.
It’s great to hear tไhat Gnonto is close to penning a new contract. He has a v🅰ery bright future ahead of him, and he can certainly play a role this season and the next.
And even if the worst comes to worst and Leeds don’t go back up at the first attempt, a new contract means one of the club’s main assets is more p♒rotected and the Wh༒ites would have a stronger hand in negotiations.
Leeds currently sit fourth in the Championship table, with 54 points from 28 games, and are next in action on Wednesday when𝕴 they host Norwich City at Elland Road.
