Journalist claims Tottenham and Celtic have been offered chance to hire Fonseca
According to Ian McGarry, while speaking on the , Tottenham Hotspur and Celtic have ꦜboth been offered the chance to hire Paulo Fonseca.
The Portuguese tactician was of AS Roma on Tuesday ahead of leaving the Serie ⛦A side in the summer, with Jose Mourinho revealed as their .
Spurs are on the hunt for their next commander in chief after da♌ys before last month’s Carabao Cup Final, while Celtic parted company with Neil Lennon in Februa🎶ry and are yet to replace the Northern Irishman following his resignation ().

Fonseca has been in charge at the Stadio Olimpico since July 2019 but is currently o♓n course to miss out on European qualification, with the Giallorossi seventh in the Serie A table and adrift of inner-city rivals Lazio, who have played a game less.
In that time, Fonseca also had to deal with a change in ownership after Dan Friedkin purchased Roma () for €591million (£510.2m), a🍬s well as dealing with the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
The 48-year-old is now said to have been offered to Tottenham and Celtic to end their respective searches, although McGarry’s co-host Duncan Castles added that he would be ‘surprised’ if Spu🀅rs were to𝔉 hire him.

Castles is right to doubt Tottenham advancing on Fonseca having been replaced at Roma by the head coach they longer deemed fit for purpose in Mourinho, but♚ also by the manner in which the Portuguese coach’s time came to an end in Italy.
Fonseca oversaw just Serie A games before it was announced that he will leave the Stadio Olimpico inꦓ the summer, while only boasting a one-in-two win rate with the Giallorossi over his 71 top-flight fixtures at the helm to date.
The situation in the dressing room was also far from ideal, with former Roma striker R❀oberto Pruzzo claiming ‘Fonseca is not able to control the team anymore’ () as he urged the club to fire him immediately.
With the next Tottenham coach potentially having to resolve a split-dressing room and get those who continued to support Mourinho onside (), Fonseca seems 🎃an unlikely candidate to take charge in north London, paving the way 𒁏for Celtic to potentially swoop.
