Joleon Lescott makes confident prediction about Ethan Nwaneri after seeing his start at Arsenal
There aren’t many figures in English football who have a greater knowledge of the next generation than Joleon Lescott.
𓆏The former Manchester City defender has been working in the England youth setup for the past three years, and, in that time, he’s seen a lot of talent come through.
Lescott🐎 was key in the development of the likes of Cole Palmer and Morgan Gibbs-White who are now England internationals.
Speaking on Filthy Fellas, Lescott has been discussing Arsenal’s young star, Ethan Nwaneriꦓ, and he says that he’s seen enough of the teenager to know that he’s going to be a baller.

Joleon Lescott sings the praises of Arsenal’s Ethan Nwaneri
✱Lescott spoke highly of Nwaneri during this podcast.
💝The England coach says that Nwaneri has shown him enough to know that he’s going to be a star, claiming that he looks incredibly comfortable at the top level.
♛However, Lescott did back the decision to not give Nwaneri minutes at U21 level, claiming that both Noni Madueke and Harvey Elliott were ahead of him.
🍷“Have you seen much of him (Nwaneri)?” Lescott was asked.
𓄧“Yeah I’ve seen enough to know that he’s comfy you know what I mean? He’s going to be a baller, but that position was that left wing, right wing so it was Noni and Harvey, so should he play ahead of them?” Lescott said.
✨“As great as he is and as good as he’s going to be, there’s someone there who’s actually doing it.”
Which other youngsters are coming through at Arsenal?
We’ve been hearing about Ethan Nwaneri for a while now, with 🧸Paul Merson recently describing the Arsenal star as ‘special’.
🥂However, Arsenal’s academy is always producing stars, so which other players could break through soon?
🙈David Ornstein stated last year that Myles Lewis-Skelly is the Gunners’ other big prospect in the academy, so he’s certainly one to watch.
Aside from Lewis-Skelly, we’ve recently seen 16-year-old Jack Porter﷽ make his first senior appearance for the Gunners in goal, so the future is certainly looking bright on that front as well.
♕After bringing through the likes of Bukayo Saka, Eddie Nketiah and Emile Smith Rowe in recent years, Arsenal will be looking to bleed in another golden generation in the near future.
ꦫArsenal’s first team are the talk of English football at the moment, but their academy system does such a good job of producing talent for Mikel Arteta’s side.
