After a month of speculation and astute n♓egotiations, the January transfer window has finally🔥 come to a close.

A t🌠o𝕴tal of about £120m was spent – double the outlay during the same period in 2012 and the fourth biggest total since the window was introduced in 2003.

The biggest spenders were, in fa𒀰ct, Liverpool, QPR and Newcastle, with those three contributing to 50% of the Janua💙ry total.

Liverpool acquired the services of England striker Daniel Sturridge (approx £12m) at the beginning of the window, whilst Rodgers later signed Brazilian youngster Philippe Coutinho (£8.5m) from Inter Milan.

Meanwhile, the Toon has experienced a mini-French Revolution within the last month. In total Newcastle signed 5 players from Ligue 1 including: Mathieu Debuchy (undisclosed, believed to be £5m, from Lille) Moussa Sissoko (undisclosed from Toulouse), Massadio Haidara (undisclosed from Nancy), Yoan Gouffran (undisclosed from Bordeaux), Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa (undisclosed, believed to be £6.7m, from Montpellier). Pardew also made a move for 17-year-old Swiss defender Kevin Mbabu (undisclosed from Servette).

Queens Park Rangers’ chances of Premier League survival are now looking more promising after a successful window under new Manager Harry Redknapp. The London club signed 6 players as Harry spent £20.5m+ on improving his struggling side, these included Loic Remy (undisclosed, believed to be £8m, from Marseille), Tal Ben Haim (unattached), Christopher Samba (£12.5m from Anzhi Makhachkala), Yun Suk-young (undisclosed from Chunnam Dragons), Jermaine Jenas (undisclosed from Tottenham), Andros Townsend (loan from Tottenham).

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was content with his one purchase, Wilfried Zaha from Crystal Palace for £15m. Arsenal remained very quiet as usual. Arsene Wenger looked reluctant to add to his squad until the club announced the signing of left-back Nacho Monreal (£10m) from Malaga with a few hourꦆs of the window remaining.

Chelsea did their business earlier in the window with the signing of Demba Ba, while champions Manchester City were at the centre of the biggest Premier League deal – although this time they were the selling club, with Mario Balotelli joining AC Milan for £19m.

The majority of clubs were very quiet within the last month. In the top half of the table, Tottenham acquired Lewis Holtby (£1.5m from Schalke) and Zeki Fryers (£3m from Standard Liege), Everton signed John Stones (approx £3m from Barnsley) whilst Stoke signed Jack Butland (£3.5m) from Birmingham and Brek Shea (£2.5m) from Dallas. Meanwhile, West Brom and Swansea failed to bring in any new faces.

In the relegation fight, Southampton made just one signing as Vegard Forren (undisclosed) joined the club from Molde. Reading were fairly active bringing in centre back Daniel Carrico (undisclosed) from Sporting Lisbon, Stephen Kelly (undisclosed from Fulham), Hope Akpan (undisclosed from Crawley) and Nick Blackman (undisclosed) from Sheffield United.

Wigan moved quickly to secure Angelo Henriquez on loan from Manchester United at the start of the window. Joel Robles (loan from Atletico Madrid), Paul Scharner (loan from Hamburg) and Roger Espinoza (free from Sporting Kansas City) all followed.

Paul Lambert’s Aston Villa didn’t hesitate to make new singings as they captured Yacouba Sylla (£2m) and Simon Dawkins (loan) from Clermont Fo𒉰ot and Tottenham respectively.

In mid table, Sunderland signed Kader Mangane (loan from Al Hilal), Alfred N’Diaye (undisclosed from Bursaspor) and Danny Graham for £5m from Swansea. Fulham captured Chris David (undisclosed from FC Twente), Emmanual Frimpong (loan from Arsenal), Urby Emanuelson (loan from AC Milan), Stanislav Manolev (loan from PSV Eindhoven) and Eyong Enoh (loan from Ajax).

Last but not least, West Ham acquired Wellington Paulista (loan from Cruzeiro), Marouane Chamakh (loan from Arsenal), Joe Cole (free from Liverpool), Sean Maguire (undisclosed from Waterford United) and Norwich signed Luciano Becchio (swap deal from Leeds) and Kei Kamara on loan from Sporting Kansas City.
