Jamie Redknapp says Tottenham did something ‘horrendous’ v Liverpool that he’s never seen before in his life
Tottenham Hotspur’s quest to reach the League Cup final has come to a hugely disappointing end as Liverpool ran out 4-1 winners on aggregate.
Spurs went to Anfield holding a 1-0 lead from the first leg and tꦦhe expectation was that they’d put up a fight in trying to get over the line.
Instead, Tottenham were toothless against a rampant Liverpool side eaꩲger to make amends from their first-leg defeat.
Cody Gakpo opened the scoring in the 34th minute, and T𝓀ottenham were lucky to only be 1-0 down by the time the half-time whistle ble🥃w.
Things were to get much worse for Spurs as Mohamed Sal𓆉ah, Dominik Szoboszlai and Virgil van Dijk all struck in the second half.
Jamie Redknapp, who played for both Tottenham and Liverpool, was stunned by Spurs as he said they did something he’s never 𝔍seen before in his life.

Jamie Redknapp stunned by how little fight Tottenham put up at Liverpool
Redknapp, speaking on🅰 , said he cannot remember a team in his lifetime putting up less of a fight in such a big game than Tottenham did at Anfield.
He couldn’t believe Spurs didn’t even manage one shot on target and 𝓰described the scoreline as “horrendous”.
“I cannot remember a ♈team in my lifetime go down with less of a fight with what Spurs did today,” he said on Sky Sports.
“N🧸ot having one shot on target in the semi-final of a second leg when you’re trying to change the course of your history?”
“There’s been some lows – Palace, Ipswich and Everton this season. But when you ᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚlook at that today, the scoreline? Just horrendous.”
Redknapp went on to add: “We expected more 🌊from Tottenham tonight. I cannot get my head around them not having one shot on target in a semi final.
“I know it is difficult because you have a one-g🅠oal lead🌃 and you are coming to Anfield.
“But in the first 🅠half they are trying to play it out from the back, the goalkeeper is edgy and the midfield never showed any courage to get on the ba𝕴ll and make things happen.
“They were so abject an🌳d it wasn’t the inexperienced players, it was the experiꦺenced ones.”
Redknapp is not the𝔍 only one stunned by how meek Tottenham were on the night.
Spurs fans noticed how M෴athys Tel was constantlyꦇ trying to spur his new teammates on – to little avail.
What Postecoglou had to say after the game
Postecoglou, speaking﷽ at full-time, conceded that Liverpool were “too good for us” and that Spurs simpl෴y couldn’t get a foothold in the game.
He said: “I guess so [with Liverpool being full strength and Spurs having injuries], but ultimately Liverpoꦯol fully deserved the victory ꧃tonight.
“They were the better ꦏteam. We just weren’t able to get a grip in any part of the game defensively or with the ball. They were too good for us.”
Postecoglou conti🌃🉐nued: “We allowed them to get into the game, we weren’t aggressive as we needed to be.
“Aga🎃in, we didn’t start the game off on the right foot, it allowed them to get comfortable. ♓Once they got comfortable, it was difficult for us to get some control back.”
