Jamie Redknapp praises ‘quality’ Miguel Almiron and Kieran Trippier as Newcastle beat Fulham
Jamie Redknapp was left amazed by how well Newcastle United duo Kieran Trippier and Miguel Almiron linked up against Fulham on today.
Eddie Howe’s men man☂aged to overcome 🍒a well-drilled Fulham side thanks to a late goal from Alexander Isak.
Newcastle started fast and Sean Longstaff was presented with an opening, but the Englishman did🍸n’t manage to test Bernd Lenoꦺ.
The best cha𝓰nce of the opening 45 minutes fell to Callum Wilson, who produced a brilliant turn to create some space for himself on the edge of the Fulham box. But Bernd Leno read exactly where the striker wanted to place his shot.
Despite a frustrating half and the loss of Bruno Guimaraes to injury, Almiro🌜n and Trippier linked up excellently dow🌞n the right-hand side. And the duo received high praise from Redknapp on .
Redknapp praises Almiron and Trippier
The 𒁏former Tottenham midfielder was shown a graphic which showed that 48 percent of 𓂃Newcastle’s attacks came down the right-hand side.
“Because they’ve got quality players🅰 down that side,” Redknapp responded.
“They’ve got a great understanding between Almiron and Trippier. Th🌱e amount of times they’re playing clever little passes.”
Trippier often struggled with his delivery in the first-half, an ꩲarea of his game where he usually excels. But the duo have formed a brilliant partnership this🐼 season and both have been standout performers under Howe.
Newcastle were 🍰once again left frustrated for the majority of the second-half as Fulham continued to defend resolutely.
Trippier gave away a penalty after he was judged to have fouled Bobby Decordova-Reid jus𒁏t inside his own box.
But fortunately for Howe’s side, Aleksandar Mitrovic missed from the spot in the most bizarre circumstances. The Serbian striker slipped and kicked the ball at his weaker foot, whi𓃲ch led to the penalty going down as a miss.
Almiron was eventually replaced by Jacob Murphy in the 8🍷4th minute, despite the fact he and Trippier were causing problems down that side of the pitch.
One of Howe’s suꦇbstitutions turned out to be an inspired one though, with Isak’s late goal provin♔g to be the difference between the sides.
Howe will be delighted t𝄹o come through such a difficult test, especially after Fulham’s bril💮liant performances of late. The win puts Newcastle back into third-place and Howe’s side are certainly showing no signs of slowing down.
