Jamie Carragher says Chelsea star couldn’t believe what ‘unbelievable’ Liverpool player did in first-half

Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher have issued their verdicts on the save Caoimhin Kelleher made in the early stages of the Carabao Cup final to deny Chelsea the opener against Liverpool.

Liverpool made a fast start at Wembley. But it was Chelsea who had the first golden chance of the final, with Cole Palmer seemingly facing a simple task to score from clos♓eꦰ range.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men worked the ball into the box. And after Raheem Sterling had failed to ൲get a clean strike away, the ball fell to Palmer inside the six-yard box.

Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher amazed by Caoimhin Kelleher save

Somehow however, Caoimhin Kelleher was able to throw his body in front of the strike from Palmer. It was🐟 a remarkable stop from the Republic of Ireland international who kept his place with Alisson 🎉Becker unavailable for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Certainly, speaking on (broadcast on 25/2; 15:21), Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher were absolutely amazed by the stoไp from the 25-year-old.

“What a save! What a save from Kelleher,” Neville said. “Chelsea, out of nowhere, Robertson, for some reason goes into midfield, van Dijk can’t get across. Raheem Sterling, you think, he’s go⭕t to hit that first-time. Why has he not? But it falls to Cole Palmer. And he just tries to sweep it in the near post. But Kelleher, well, it’s wonderful. He’s got a world-class goalkeeper in front of him. But he’s delivered a world-class moment there.

“That is unbelievable. That man more than most, Cole Palmer 𓆉can’t believe he hasn’t put Chelsea 1-0 in front,” Carragher added.

Steps up whenever called upon

Obviously, Kelleher could not have known too much about the save he would go on to make. Howeve🐈r, he did brilliantly to close Palmer down and anticipate where the strike may go.

Liverpool believe that K♏elleherℱ is one of the best understudies in the Premier League. And you do have to say that he so rarely lets the team down whe꧃never he 🌼does get his chance.

He has one of the most daunting tasks in world football trying to get in ahead of Alisson. But there is no doubt t🐲hat it would be a hug🎃e boost for Liverpool if they are able to call upon Kelleher when the time does come to replace the Brazilian.
