Jamie Carragher and Paul Scholes both agree about Gabriel Martinelli at Arsenal after watching him this season

It’s safe to say that Gabriel Martinelli is having a difficult season at Arsenal, with his place in the side under scrutiny due to his lackluster performances.

Stephen Warnock claimed Martinelli has declined this season, which has led to the Gunners relying far too much on B♍ukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard to rescue them in attack.

Adrian Clarke stated Martinelli’s “career is stalling” as well, w♋ith the former Ituano winger scoring just three goals in the Premier League this campaign for a Gunners side whose title hopes are in question.

Martinelli was considered “world-class” by Jamie O’Hara at one point but since las🌸t season, his stock has plummeted.

Paul Scholes and Jamie Carragher agree Gabriel Martinelli has declined

Ian Wright demanded Martinelli to step up, as Mikel Arteta still seems to be undecided about whether he is his best left-winger or Leandro Trossard. Tony Cascarino also feels Martinelli is “not playing well” as his career seems ♔to be falling by 🐻the wayside at the moment.

Jamie Carragher has now also claimed on The Overlap’s Fan Debate that both Saka and Odegaard have left Gabriel Martinelli behind, w🌺ho he onceཧ tipped to become a top player as well.

“I look at Martinelli and I🍌 actually think, probably three year📖s ago when this team was just getting built, it felt like Odegaard and Saka and Martinelli were all the same sort of level looking like they can go and become top players.”

“I thin♑k the other two have, I’m not s෴ure about Martinelli.”

Paul Scholes agreed about the Arsenal wideman, saying: “It feels like he’sꦉ gone backwards a little bit.”

“You thought, year, 18 months ago, wow, what a player and he has stalled❀ a little bit. How old is he now? 24, 25 [23], is he? He’s still young.”

Martinelli’s Premier League stats for Arsenal since ’22/23 season

As Paul ไScholes stated, with Martinelli just being 23, it would be too early to completely write him off.

However, the speedster’s statistics since the 2022/2023 season ꧃prove that he has undergone a steep decline.

While Martinelli’s displays so far this campaign have become a topic of discussion, it is worth noting that he scored just six 🅠league goals last season.

Considering the Gunners forward bagged 15 goals in the season before was proof that his form had undergone a ♎massive dip.

As a result, Martinelli’s performance and statistics this season could signal that he might have plateaued as a starter in an Aꩵ🅺rsenal shirt.
