‘I’ll be honest’… Barry Ferguson admits he got it completely wrong about 25-year-old Celtic player

There have been three stories of the season when it comes to Celtic players so far.

The signing of Luis Palma looks like an inspired piece of business by the club. The development of Matt O’Riley is genius on the part of Brendan Rodgers and the emergence of Liam Scales as a first-team pick for the centre of defence has been a great story.

And out of all the three, former Rangers hero, Barry Ferguson, admits he got it really wrong with the Republic of Ireland in♛ternational.

Scales has been immense for Celtic since stepping in during an injury crisis at the beginning of the season and he is doing so well that he is keeping out the likes of new £3m summer signing, Gustaf Lagerbielke.

A꧂nd Ferguson has admitted that when he first 💯saw him appear for Celtic this season, he didn’t think he was good enough to play for the club

Ferguson said [], “I’ll be honest when obviously he got the opportuniℱty I didn’t think he was going to be good enough to play for Celtic week in, week out.

“But he’s proved me wrong. You’ve got to take your hat off to Liam Scales. He’s bꦆeen fantastic.

“And I think with each game, I’ve got to be honest with you, he’s gꦿetting better and better.

“He looks very com♎fortable and at this moment in time the two centre-backs are Carter-Vickers and Scales.”

The turnaround in Scales’ Celtic career has been quite remarkable. From almost leaving the club in the summer, the 25-year-old defend🔯er is now a mainstay in Brendan Rodgers’ side.

On the verge of being offered a new deal at Celtic, 𝔍Scales is also becoming an established defender at international level.

It’s been a great four months for Scales and the Celtic supporters will be hoping that his great form continues as they bid to get out of the Champions League group stages and defend the Scottish Premiership.
