If reports are true, Edu could be about to make a mistake that’d cost Arsenal £125,000-a-week – TBR View

Arsenal appear to have already begun their search for new strikers.

The Gunners have just two senior centre-forwards in their ranks, and both are out of contract soon.

Alexandre Lacazette has struggled in recent weeks, while Eddie Nketiah has barely got any game time.

Therefore, it’s highly likely that Arsenal will bring in one, if not more, new strikers through the door.

According to , the Gunners have in fact already launched a bid for one forward.

Atletico Madrid have reportedly received a €30million (£25million) offer from Arsenal for Alvaro Morata.

The Italian outlet claims Morata has no intention of returning to Atletico when his season-long loan at Juventus ends

To keep him, Juventus must reportedly pay €35million (£29million), which Corriere claims might be too much for the Serie A giants.

Morata himself has apparently requested a discount on behalf of Juve, as he is keen to leave the Spanish champions.

Arsenal must tread carefully

However, Arsenal could be making a mistake in bringing the 29-year-old to the Emirates Stadium.

While Morata has Premier League experience, he didn’t exactly pull up any trees at Chelsea.

He scored a relatively low 24 goals from 72 appearances in all competitions.

And in the league, he netted just 16 times from 47 outings.

In addition, Morata reportedly has a salary of £125,000-a-week at Atletico ().

While Arsenal could afford such a salary, you have to wonder whether it – plus £25million – would be worth it.

The Gunners have had their fair share of issues with high-profile players on high salaries failing to deliver.

Morata has struggled for consistency, and consistency is something Arsenal are desperate for right now.

Edu could be making a mistake worth £25million plus £125,000-a-week if he presses on for Morata.

Arsenal would be better off pushing for someone like Darwin Nunez or Jonathan Davis.
