Ian Wright launches stunning attack on Daniel Levy as he calls for change at Tottenham
With just a few days of the transfer window remaining, Tottenham Hotspur are yet to recruit an outfield player in addition to Antonin Kinsky who has arrived in net.
Despite the club’s worrying results of late, Tottenham are sticking by Ange Postecoglou, and Daniel Levy is planning to back his manager rather than replace him according to reports.
Tottenham are expected to make at least one more addition before Monday’s deadline, but many in N17 still feel as if that’s not enough.
Tottenham staff are frustrated about the lack of signings at the club via reports, and it’s not a harmonious situation in north London right now.
That being said, Spurs fans displayed a banner criticising Levy during their recent defeat to Leicester City in the league, and frustration towards the Tottenham chairman seems to be mounting.
Ian Wright explains why Tottenham need to get rid of Daniel Levy
Speaking on the ‘Stick to Football’ podcast, Ian Wright has now delivered some very strong words on Spurs’ situation under Levy and their lack of on-the-field success of late.
Wright initially appeared to praise Levy for how he handles the business side of things, but eventually concluded that it was time to ‘get him out’ for the sake of the club’s footballing ambitions.

Wright said: “But you look at Levy, when you look at Tottenham as a business, unbelievable, unbelievably run, and that’s what he does.
“If he had the same energy for trying to win something for Tottenham, they’d be winning something.
“Remember, they’ve had arguably one of the greatest goal scorers in English history, alongside Wayne [Rooney], of course, in respects of, that’s come through their academy.
“He didn’t build anything around that. He was scoring goal. How many golden boots did Harry [Kane] get in the end?
“Was it three or four? You’ve got somebody who’s capable of doing that. You didn’t build a team around him.
“They should have been winning things, because of the owner – they haven’t won anything with him, have they? With Levy at the helm.
“Tottenham used to win trophies, used to win FA cups, they used to win stuff. It’s him.
“He’s the one, they’ve got to get him out and get an owner in who wants to win something with these fans. The stadium’s always full.
Roy Keane replied: “That’s not how they run the club, though, right?”
Wright: “Yeah, but that’s why they need to change that, Roy, because the only thing that’s missing from that place is trophies.”
Daniel Levy still has time to get Spurs fans back onside
Of course, were Tottenham to attack the transfer market in the final few days of the window, Levy might be slightly forgiven to some degree.
Levy’s decision to stick by Postecoglou in the face of the club’s injury crisis seems like a smart one from the outside looking in, but it’s clear that something needs to change.
And the club’s transfer policy would be a good start.
Tottenham are interested in Mathys Tel and a club of their size and financial power should be able to execute a move – they should be sending an immediate bid to get one step ahead of their rivals.
And if Tel doesn’t work out, there’s also plenty of other targets for Tottenham to explore, a window that Levy and Johan Lange are currently failing to make the most of.
