‘I don’t care’… Pundit says he remains convinced Arsenal spent poorly when they signed 24-year-old

Simon Jordan has suggested that he really does not care what people think of what he makes of Arsenal signing Kai Havertz following the Gunners’ win over Porto on Tuesday night.

Mikel Arteta’s side continue to impress 🀅in the opening months of 2024. They booked their quarter-final spot in the Champions League by overcoming Porto. Meanwhile, they will go into the international break top of the Premier League table.

Of course, the challenge for Arsenal will be to clear the hurdle in the league which proved to be a little too big for them last year🍨. But the Gunners do appear to be a different animal this season.

Simon Jordan insists Arsenal made mistake spending £65 million on Kai Havertz

As things stand, the stalwarts of the back line remain fit. Meanwhile, they also added Declan Rice and Kai Havertz to their ranks over the summer.

Rice has been outstanding. And Havertz🉐 appears to be coming good after a turbulent start to life at the Emirates.

A lot of people were scratching𒐪 their heads when Arsena♎l decided to sign Havertz off the back of his difficult spell with Chelsea. And for some time, it appeared that the deal was going to hurt the Gunners.

But Havertz has now found his feet. He has now scored in their last four league games, including Saturday’s winnꦐer against Brentford. The 24-year-old looks settled in the striker role.

However, speaking on , Simon Jordan suggeste🙈d that h𝓰e is yet to be convinced that it was a good bit of business from Arsenal as he assessed their improvement from last year.

“If Arsenal had maintained their performances, they would have won the league [last season]. They didn’t. Which means they choked when they had the opportunity to win t🐎he league,” he said.

“Now, we will see this time round. But they are markedly better. Arteta is a better manager. They’re a better team. People like Havertz are even adding some value. And I don’t care what people think of my observations of Havertz, I think he’s꧑ £65 million badly spent. But that’s up on Arsenal. And if they want to make him into a player, then good luck on them.”

Mikel Arteta will only be vindicated with league title

Not only did the Havertz deal appear to be a👍 risk because of the player they were bringing in, but it also took a giant bite out of their transfer budget.

Havertz is playing well right now. But given the fee,ꦜ surely it is fair for someone 🐼to suggest that Arteta will only be truly vindicated if Arsenal go on and win the league with the German in the side.
