‘Hugely influential’… Jim Goodwin says there are two Celtic players who are ‘key’ for Brendan Rodgers at Celtic
This season under Brendan Rodgers, I think it is fair to say that Celtic have been seriously underperforming.
Despite sitting at the top of the Scottish Premiership, Rodgers’ side have not been at their attacking best. Struggling to break teams down🦹, the football has been slow, insipid and more often than not, a really difficult watch.
Now there are various reasons for that, of course. Injuries, new players and a new system can all affect a team and players’ performancesඣ but former Aberdeen manager, Jim Goodwin, believes that there are two players at Celtic who Rodgers really relies on.
Goodwin said [], “I do think he [Joe Hart] has come in for a lot of unfair criticism this season.
“In key moments in recent weeks, I think both Hart and McGregor๊ are hugely influential for Celtic and certainly with the players that they are missing.
ཧ“I was just saying to Neil before the game, if you go through the team and Celtic’s starting eleven, they’re a very, very young team if you take Hart and McGregor out of it.
🌱“Brendan Rodgers will no doubt be looking to those two as leaders on the park.”
💟Hart and McGregor have both been central to Celtic’s successes over the past two seasons. Under Ange Postecoglou, the pair were outstanding as the Australian gaffer tore up the Scottish game.

✱Winning five trophies out of six, including a record-breaking eighth treble, Hart and McGregor were both mainstays in Postecoglou’s Celtic side.
ܫAs it happens, both are still being relied upon by Rodgers this season. McGregor has missed just one game this season where he was rested against Buckie Thistle in the last round of the Scottish Cup.
🔥Hart has also missed just one match. However, that was down to suspension after being sent off Livingston which meant the 36-year-old missed the following game against Motherwell. []
𝔉If Rodgers is looking to land a league and cup double this season, it is clear that he will look to both players to help get Celtic over the line.
