Richard Keys says two players helped completely spoil Aston Villa v Manchester United

Aston Villa and Manchester United played out a 0-0 draw this weekend and Richard Keys was not impressed with two players for their role in the game.

In🍌 a pretty dour affair at Villa Park, both United and Villa failed to get going and in the end, a point was about right.

With the international break now here, the point was decent news for Erik ten Hag, who continues to be under pressure.

For Unai Emery, the break h꧋as probably come at a good time as he looks to get his team well rested and ready to go again in a few weeks.

Of cour🔜se, with the quality on display, United and Villa fans might 𒉰have expected a lot better.

And speaking on the game, Richard Keys has blamed two key players for Villa a𒆙nd 🎉United for effectively ruining the game.

Andre Onana and Emilio Martinez slammed for their role in Aston Villa v Man United draw

Writing in his weekly blog, Keys criticised both Villa and 🦩United and in particular, called out both꧑ goalkeepers for slowing the game down.

“How many times did Martinez and Onana stand outside their box with a foot on th😼e ball? I know the idea is to invite the ܫpress and then work the ball out – but no-one ever pressed,” Keys said.

“Clearly Villa were feeling the effects of their big night against Bayern, but tღhat’s not r🦄eally an excuse.

“If they want to mix it with🍌 the ⛄big boys they’ve got to do better, especially when there’s nothing to beat in front of you.”

Goalkeepers clearly under instruction

While it was annoying to watch Onana and Martinez do what they did, t𝓀hat is clearly coming from the manage🍌ment.

ꦑThese days, if a goalkeeper goes long a lot, they often 🧸get pulled up and criticised for doing so.

For Onana and Martinez, so much emphasis is placed on them to start attacks properly that there’s go♏ing to be times when they get it wrong.

Thankfully, this game is now in the books but Keys is right really, it did contribute to a dismal affair♏ beဣtween two of England’s biggest clubs.
