How Arne Slot really feels about Liverpool selling Darwin Nunez in the near future
Thus far, Darwin Nunez’s debut season under Arne Slot at Liverpool has been slightly indifferent.
Nunez scored two crucial goals away at Brentford recently to secure Liverpool🐽 a 2-0 lead, but otherwise it hasn’t been a season full of individual highlights to date.
When Slot🐭 has his whole squad fit, Liverpool arguably still look more effective with either Luis Diaz or Diogo Jota as their number nine, a situation that changes from game to game.
ꩵBut given Nunez’s pedigree, the striker is going to be linked with moves away from Anfield unless he’s the club’s starting striker.
In recent weeks, the Saudi Pro League denied a move for Nunezꩵ, even if interest does exist in the striker from the country.
ꦫAnd now in the midst of a saga surrounding the futures of Bayern Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface and Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran, Nunez’s name has been linked with Saudi Arabia once again.
Liverpool currently have no plans to sell Darwin Nunez to Saudi Arabia
🎶 have now shared a report detailing that Nunez is a target for Al-Nassr, who are currently deliberating on which striker to sign this month.
ܫFrom Liverpool’s point of view, the club are standing firm that they have no intention of selling their Uruguayan striker at this stage of the window.

🌺Either way, there is still expected to be a ‘significant market’ for Nunez in the summer according to the report, should Liverpool be interested in a departure then.
♛But Slot considers Nunez as an important part of the squad right now at least as Liverpool continue to compete in all competitions.
ওAlthough Slot does have a depth of options available up top, Jota has regularly been missing for large periods over the last year or so, meaning Nunez’s excellent availability record has been vital at times.
Arne Slot has rejected the idea that Darwin Nunez is struggling for confidence
🧔In terms of Nunez’s performances for Liverpool this season, Slot praised his striker recently, even if he’s only scored six goals this season.
Jota has also praised Nunez💃, and it seems as if there’s so much good will towards the all or nothing striker at Anfield, who still has a contract that runs until 2028.
ওSpeaking at his press conference a couple of weeks ago, Slot didn’t think Nunez was struggling for confidence, predicting that his striker will score more goals in the near future.
♈Slot said: “It’s not my perception that he’s with struggling self-confidence.
🔯“He was involved against Accrington Stanley in the first goal again, as well he was involved in the goal against Fulham that Jota scored and he scored one against Southampton.
💙“And I think after that it wasn’t that he had many starts, maybe one time, I don’t know exactly.
❀“For me, it’s the life of a striker, sometimes you score, sometimes you don’t and he hasn’t started every single game.
𝔍“So the most important thing for me is that we as a team are able to score every single game except for the Tottenham one.
🐓“So it tells me that we have so many goals in our team and yeah, Darwin will score his goals like he did for this club already and he will keep doing this.
♎“But I don’t see him struggling that much, as the way you see it and he’s still involved in goals in the last few games.”
