Highly rated defender once linked with Wolves and Liverpool now available for loan

Highly rated Barcelona defender Jean-Clair Todibo has reportedly been made available for loan ().

The Frenchman was signed by the Catalan giants in January and was due to join up with his new team this summer, but the club successfully brought the transfer forward.

Todibo has made just two appearances for Barca since moving to the Nou Camp early, with Gerard Pique and Clement Lenglet firmly established under Ernesto Valverde.

There is also competition in the form of Samuel Umtiti and Thomas Vermaelen, and the 19-year-old will now apparently be let go on a temporary basis.

Todibo had a host of suitors before joining Barca, and two of them may now be on red alert

TBR’s view

that Wolverhampton Wanderers and Liverpool were interested in signing the youngster from Toulouse.

Both sides missed out, but could now be presented with a new chance to snap up the talented teenager – at least on loan.

Marca state that Barca would only let him go if he is guaranteed to play regular first-team football, with the player’s agent Bruno Satin saying: “He will either stay at the club [Barcelona] or he will go on loan if he is guaranteed a minimum of 30 matches.”

That would suggest Wolves would have the upper hand if the two clubs were to fight it out this summer.

Nuno Espirito Santo doesn’t have too many defensive options at his disposal, and utilised a three-man defence last term.

There is clear need for additional cover at Molineux and Todibo could be fine signing.
