‘He’s magnificent’… Jim Duffy has been seriously impressed with 26-year-old Celtic player this season
Celtic have a number of players in their squad that have excellent over the past three seasons or so.
The goals of Kyogo Furuhashi and the vision and nous of Matt O’Riley won Ange Postecoglou a double in his fi✱rst se𝕴ason and an historic treble in his second.
But after signing a new deal at the club, Jim Duffy was waxing lyrical about Hoops defender, Cameron Carter-Vickers.
The US international has committed his Parkhead future to 2029 and Duffy couldn’t his his admiration for the 26-year-old centre-𒀰back.
Duffy said [], “He’s been magnificent. Such a steady, reliable defender.
“He is influential as well. He’s helped Scales and I just think he’s instrumental in 𝓰Celtic t🐭he way they press because you need defenders that can deal with one-to-one situations at times.
“Celtic will go the twไo fullbacks is when all really really high leave themselves for those two defenders but in Scottish football he has been magnificent and a terrific professional as well.꧟”
Duffy is not wrong. Carter-Vickers has been an absolute rock in the heart of t🐈he Celtic defence over the past two and a half seasons and the Celtic support will be delighted that he is set to remain at the club for the best years of his career.
The 26-year-old was farmed constantly out on loan by Spurs before finding a home at Celtic and now that he is settled, Carter-Vickers is enjoying not only domestic success, but international recognition as well.
The partnership he has forged with Liam Scales has also helped cement Celtic’s place at the top of the league and there is little doubt that when he do♎esn’t play, he is sorely missed.
Rated at an average of 7.3 by , the centre-back’s defensive (66% duels won and 60% success at ta🐻ckling) and passing stats (92.1%) are the reason that Celtic have conceded just 15 goals in the this season.
Like Duffy, the Celtic fans are in awe of Carter-Vickers and they will be delighted that he has committ🍸ed his long term future to the club.
