‘He really wanted me’: Championship player says Bruce was desperate to sign him for Newcastle

Birmingham City defender Kristian Pedersen has revealed that he was very close to joining Steve Bruce‘s Newcastle United in the summer.
Th🌳e Magpies were on the market looking for a new left-back. They were🙈 linked with quite a few names, but it looks like Pedersen is the one who came very close to securing a move to Tyneside.
The 27-year-old, who joined Birmingham 𓄧City from Union Berlin in 2018, has been a regular for the Blues. He has played over 130 games in the Championship over the last three years, but was he ready for a big move to the Premier League?
Bruce, apparently, was con🙈vinced he was the man for the Magpies.
Kristian Pedersen: Steve Bruce wanted me to join Newcastle
The 27-year-old left-back told : “It was close with Newꩵcastle in the summer.
“The club got a call from Steve Bruce, who is now fired. He said he really wanted me, bu𒁃t it didn’t work out in the end, because there were some things that had to succeed before the♉ ends could meet.
“Of course, it’s too bad it didn’t happen, but there’s nothing to be done about it. I💝t would have been a really good opportunity for me, but yes, it did not happen, and now they have got new owners and ﷺhave got other muscles to play with, so I do not know exactly how it is anymore.”

TBR View:
Newcastle definitely needed a natural left-back in the summer. Jamal Lewis hasn’t started a game in the league this seas🎶on, while Matt Ritchie💟, naturally an attacker, has had to fill in at left full-back on seven occasions.
A natural left-back would’ve been ideaꦑl for the Magpies, but nobody knows if Pedersen, had the move gone through, would’ve been able to raise his level to become a solid Premier League defender.
The one thing that’s almost certain now is that Newcastle will not target Pedersen again. They have the financial muscle to lure in top-quality players now, which makes the January transfer window a very exciting♏ one for fans and Eddie Howe.
